Enjoy our common rooms

You are welcome to use our three ground floor parlours, which are equipped with cosy sofas, armchairs and tables. Cuddle up in front of the beautifully designed open fireplace or use the library to swap a book. As Mirko, one of the owners, is a writer himself, he surely has a tip for you.
Throughout the house you’ll find a mix of contemporary and mid-century design, ethno objects, selected antique pieces and modern art. On display, among others, are works by Chantal Michel, Martin Guggisberg, Christof Vetsch, Daniel Suter, Tran Phuc Duyen and Barbara Kiener.
Every season here
From the Maison Bergdorf you have a stunning view of the Jungfrau and the backyard mountain of Interlaken, the Harder. You can also see the historic Interlaken castle.
Our veranda is uniquely spacious and – sheltered under a big roof – you can enjoy it in any weather.
Relax on our terrace under the purple wisteria or wander around our wild romantic garden. And if the weather is right, you can also enjoy your breakfast on the terrace.
The hosts & the owners
The owners, Stéphane and Mirko, have carefully renovated the house and have added their own flair to the rooms through an interior design that skilfully plays with colours, shapes and materials.
A curated mix of furniture pieces from various eras and a collection of contemporary art awaits visitors.
Stéphane attended Hotel Management School before becoming an independent entrepreneur. He has a passion for interior design, best proof of which is the Maison Bergdorf.
He is founder and partner of the Bergdorf company, which covers projects in the field of interior design, hospitality, PR and journalism.
Together with Mirko he published three interior books and a city guide.
The interior designer
Mirko has been partner of the Bergdorf company since 2007. He’s a journalist with a knack for interior design, art and architecture.
Besides several design books, he published two

His latest work includes the photography project «Urban Wanderings». A limited set of prints is available in our shop.
Bea has always worked in the hospitality and tourism industry and has a big passion for travel. Wanting to become a mahout (elephant handler), she moved to India and stayed in Mumbai for 10 years, working for local and international companies.
Since 2015 Bea has welcomed guests from all over the world at Maison Bergdorf and is valued as the «No-drama-queen»
Bea also owns a travel agency specialiced in individual travels in India. It is called – well – Mahout.
The travel expert
Starting out as a chef, Dominique has garnered experience – from Thailand to the South of France - in virtually every aspect of the hotel and gastronomy business. After a stint into the retail industry, she makes her hotel comeback at Maison Bergdorf while at the same time launching her own career as an interior designer.
Add to all these interests her in-depth knowledge of the Bernese Oberland, which she calls her second home, communication and language skills and a lovely dog at her side and, hey presto, you have the perfect co-host for our boutique bed & breakfast.
shopping & events
Interlaken lies in the Bernese Oberland on an alluvial plain between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. The vacation destination, which is presided over by the three mighty mountains, Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, is the starting point for numerous activities.
Interlaken is the perfect spot for a trip into the mountains. The castle and the beautiful river Aare are only 10 minutes walking distance away from our house.
And the town itself has a lot to offer, too.
